Quilted Bacon...

....for people who learn from the mistakes of others

This blog is started for the 1972 home I will be buying, and making as many cheap and free improvements as possible for the short term, mostly involving paint.  I've been dying for this opportunity, very lucky to have it.  Please post any ideas!! I will be publishing pictures of the individual rooms shortly...will also be improving the format....stay tuned!

What to do with my red brick fireplace/mustard yellow wall, dark 'wood(-ish) paneled family room:

Leave the brick, paint the paneling? What color? I’m thinking something like this but green.  Why green? No clue really, it just fits.

And brick…paint the brick to look something like this?

The carpet will eventually have to go, as floor boards underneath appear damaged.  I saw the most  beautiful colored cement floor once, a brown mellowed by about 12 layers of wax, after having ‘tile’ lines cut in by a wet saw, wish I had a picture of that…though may go with wood here for a cozier feel.

And the white and yellow walls? Any thoughts?
